To Love Food is to Enjoy Life.

Any animal species takes more time than humans to eat. Food, before and after all, reflects who we are and who we want to be. In a rushed world where schools swap lunch time for TV watching or other activities, or private schools don’t even offer a lunch room, we, at VINCI School of Ottawa, take meals as one of many virtues. How can we expect children to excel if they can’t even taste the difference between artichoke and carrots?
A balanced diet, low in sugar and sodium, full of locally grown organic produce, complete with protein, grains, fruits composed as per the food pyramid recommended by the US Department of Agriculture and Health Canada’s Food Guide, are all part of healthy nutrition and learning at the VINCI School of Ottawa.
Every day, before the meal starts, children are led by teachers to understand today’s menu, and discuss ingredients and tastes they anticipate. Teachers will discuss about the story of the main dish, such as pizza from Italy, steamed fish from Asia, New England chowders, New Zealand lamb stews … We expect children to not only enjoy the taste, but also connect their food to the world.
Every day, 60 minutes are allocated for children to appreciate the food, in a nicely decorated Bistro-style cafeteria. Picky eaters? No problem. Let our chefs convince your child that there is a lot more to lose without trying.
Since lunch is a time for children to learn collectively about various food and nutrition, each child is expected to eat a school prepared lunch. For 5$ a day, it not only saves parents time and struggle for lunch box preparation, it’s also a great learning opportunity for your child.
